The padlock isn't a solid block of gold. We made it an open frame, like a little cage holding a brilliant stone. This keeps the earring light on the ear and lets light pass right through the centre stone from every angle.
These are drop earrings built in two parts. The post is a diamond-shaped stud with a small, bezel-set stone. From that hangs a polished gold shackle, which holds the main piece: a tiny padlock. The lock body is an open, square frame. Inside, a larger round stone is suspended in its own four-prong setting. The high-polish finish reflects a lot of light, and so do the two brilliant-cut Cubic Zirconia stones.
We make these from solid 14 Karat gold, not plated or filled. Itโs 58.3% pure gold, with other metals mixed in for durability. This means the colour is permanent and won't rub off, and the gold is strong enough for the moving parts of the earring. It also means they won't irritate your skin, even with all-day wear. Is it safe to shower or sleep while wearing my Locked in Love Earrings?
Yes, you can shower in them, as solid 14K gold won't tarnish or be damaged by water. We'd suggest taking them out before sleeping, though. As they are drop earrings, they could snag on your pillow or hair, which might be uncomfortable or damage the post.
How far will the Locked in Love Earrings hang from my ear piercing?
The total drop length is about 1.5cm from the piercing to the bottom of the padlock. For most people, this means the entire padlock design will hang just below the earlobe, giving it space to move and catch the light without being overly long.
