Christmas Jewellery Gift Guide 2026 (By Budget)

Mehran Rahbaran·August 28, 2026· Updated August 28, 2026

Jewelry isn't the biggest holiday gift category by volume. Clothing, gift cards, and toys all outrank it, according to the National Retail Federation's winter holiday survey. But it's the category people remember years later, and it's the one that gets more popular with age, before that, one age group stands out: shoppers 18 to 24 are more likely than any other group to buy jewelry as a gift, with 30% planning to give it this season, per the same NRF data. If you're shopping for someone in that range, or you just want a gift that outlasts the wrapping paper, here's how to think about it by budget.

Under $150: Stocking-Stuffer Range

This range works best for something small and specific rather than a scaled-down version of a bigger gift. A single stud earring set, a thin chain, a birthstone charm. December's birthstones, per GIA, are turquoise, tanzanite, and zircon, so if the recipient was born in December, a small zircon or turquoise piece reads as more considered than a generic stud. Zircon in particular comes in a wide color range, red, orange, blue, colorless, so it's worth asking what shade someone actually wears before buying.

  • Birthstone stud earrings or a small pendant, especially for a December birthday
  • Sterling silver or gold-filled chain
  • Small CZ studs

Browse earrings and pendants in this range.

$150 to $400: The Main Gift

Most of what we sell for Christmas falls here. Real 14K gold rather than plated, a genuine gemstone rather than glass, something built to be worn for years rather than one season. A garnet or CZ tennis bracelet, a freshwater pearl strand, a solid gold huggie set. This is also where a lot of parents buying for adult children land, since it's enough to feel significant without turning into a conversation about a ring.

  • 14K gold bracelet, chain, or stud set
  • Freshwater pearl necklace or bracelet
  • Small diamond or CZ pendant

See bracelets and freshwater pearl pieces.

$400 to $900: A Bigger Statement

At this level, most Christmas gifts we see are either a substantial single piece (a cocktail ring, a fuller bracelet, a heavier pendant) or a step up in metal and stone quality on something simpler. This is also a common range for a promise ring or a first real piece of fine jewelry for someone starting a collection, which tends to matter more around the holidays than any other time of year.

  • Solid gold statement ring or pendant
  • Genuine gemstone piece, tanzanite, garnet, or sapphire
  • Diamond stud upgrade from CZ or smaller diamonds

$900 and Up: The Once-a-Year Gift

Past this range, Christmas purchases usually mean one of two things: an engagement planned around the holidays, or a milestone anniversary that happens to land in December. Either way, this isn't an off-the-shelf decision. Our complete guide to custom engagement rings covers stone selection and setting styles if that's the plan, and our anniversary and milestone jewellery page covers the anniversary route.

If You Want Something Custom

Custom pieces need real lead time, more than most people expect when they're shopping in early December. If you're thinking about a redesigned heirloom or a piece built around a specific stone or date, start now rather than the week before. Our custom gifting guide covers realistic timelines for a holiday deadline.

Key Takeaways

  • Jewelry isn't a top-5 holiday gift category overall, but 30% of 18 to 24 year olds plan to give it this season, more than any other age group, according to the NRF.
  • December has three birthstones (turquoise, tanzanite, zircon), giving more options than most months for a birthstone gift.
  • Custom orders need real lead time. Start well before your deadline, not the week of.
  • A piece the recipient will wear past the holidays beats a piece that only photographs well under the tree.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is jewelry a good Christmas gift?

It depends on the recipient, but data backs it up for younger adults specifically. The NRF's 2024 winter holiday survey found shoppers aged 18 to 24 are more likely than any other age group to buy jewelry as a gift.

What are December's birthstones?

December has three official birthstones: turquoise, tanzanite, and zircon, according to GIA. Tanzanite was added to the list as recently as 2002, and zircon replaced lapis lazuli in 1952, so December is one of the few months with more than one modern option.

How late can I order a custom piece before Christmas?

It depends on the complexity of the piece, but simple resizing or engraving on an in-stock item can often be done same-day or within a few days. A full custom design or an heirloom redesign needs weeks, not days. Call ahead if you're working against a deadline.

Do you offer gift wrapping or holiday packaging?

Yes, ask in-store when you purchase.
