The edges of each star are lined with tiny beads of gold, a technique called milgrain. It’s a texture you can feel, and it gives the ring a soft, antique-like finish that you don't get with a simple high polish.

This isn't a solid band. It’s a circle of interconnected, four-pointed star shapes made of solid gold. Larger, round Cubic Zirconia stones are set in the centre of the main stars, with smaller stones sitting in the spaces between them. The gold itself is polished, so it catches the light on the smooth shank and the flat surfaces of the stars, while the milgrain edges look almost frosted.

We make this ring from 14 Karat gold, which is 58.3% pure gold mixed with other alloys. This gives it a rich yellow colour, but it also makes the gold strong enough for an openwork design like this to hold its shape through daily wear. The stones are Cubic Zirconia, a hard, clear material that’s cut to reflect light in a way that's very similar to a diamond. Which means you get a lot of sparkle without the worry.
