Thinking of selling gold in Coquitlam? Vanhess Jewellery buys gold jewellery, broken pieces, scrap, and coins at our Coquitlam Centre store — from an accountable Canadian Jewellers Association member with 150+ five-star Google reviews, not a pop-up cash-for-gold booth. We test and weigh your gold in front of you, explain how the offer is calculated against the live market price, and pay on the spot. No pressure to sell.

What we buy

  • Gold jewellery — rings, chains, bracelets, earrings, and pendants in 10k, 14k, 18k, and 22k.
  • Broken & unworn pieces — single earrings, tangled chains, dated styles you’ll never wear again.
  • Gold coins & small bars — bullion and collectible gold, assessed on content.
  • Dental gold & scrap — assessed by purity and weight.

How our pricing works

We test each item for purity (acid or electronic testing as needed) and weigh it on a calibrated scale, then base the offer on the live gold spot price for that purity and weight, less a transparent margin. You see the karat, the weight, and the maths — nothing hidden. Because we’re a working jeweller rather than a quick-cash booth, pieces with genuine design or stone value are assessed as jewellery, not just melt weight, which sometimes means a better offer. Much of the gold trade runs on recycling: the World Gold Council’s 2024 report shows recycled gold made up roughly 27.5% of total supply.

Selling gold the sensible way

Bring photo ID (required for second-hand dealer records in BC). Clean, sorted pieces are quicker to assess, but it’s not necessary. If a piece is worth more repaired or redesigned than melted, we’ll say so — you’re always free to keep it. Prefer to put the value toward something new? We can credit it against a custom design or a new ring.

Gold-selling questions

How do you decide what my gold is worth?

We test the purity, weigh it, and base the offer on the live spot price for that karat and weight, less a clear margin. You see every step.

Do I need an appointment?

No — walk in during mall hours. Bring photo ID, which BC second-hand dealer rules require.

Will I get more if I keep the piece as jewellery?

Sometimes. If a piece has real design or stone value, it can be worth more repaired, redesigned, or sold as jewellery than melted — we’ll tell you honestly before you decide.
